One thing I love is a good story. The story I love most is the one we live in, but among my next favorite has to be The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The hardships faced and temptations swirling within the minds and society of Frodo
and Bilbo in the world of Middle Earth are richly comparable to what any one of us faces now. Also, spiritual bible nuances are flooded throughout the tale.
Tolkien’s portrayal of the small and peace-loving creatures called Hobbits as having big
feet is perfect considering the many journeys they are equipped to travel on. Hobbits do not like adventures though. So, until an adventure is presented with the thrill of a reward so compelling, how can these large feet be put to use?
It is the same
with us. God has equipped us with enormous skills and capacity for faith which can move mountains!! Every spiritual gift that Jesus was owner of HAS BEEN given to us! We have the feet ready to travel whatever path God needs us to, for His name to be made known
and declared great!!!!!
Yes, this excites me, because my generous husband took me to Hobbiton in Matamata, NZ on our way home yesterday! The paths that were supposedly trod by those big, make-believe feet were small, narrow and everywhere. They knew
where they wanted to go and made the roads that took them there.
The only difference for us is that the footprints WE leave behind need to be BIG ONES TOO. We want everyone to be so intrigued by the size of our feet (our talents, and the defining power
of God shown in the style of our living) that they will come in droves to learn more of His story through us.
