My God stuff thinkings

Back four years when we added onto our home, a friend gifted us two double bathroom sinks with four attachments for taps. They sit on opposite walls allowing four children to brush their teeth at once (you can imagine my gratitude!!).

Above these sinks hang two large mirrors. If you stand just to the side of your own reflection to look past it you can see countless repeating images of yourself fading into tininess.

Nope; try as I might, I cannot think of an analogy here. Usually they would come to me as I write.

I love how Paul copied Jesus in the bible, using everyday objects around him to work the kingdom of God into familiar and visual terms.

Here we go...!

While we are standing directly in front of this home mirror we will never fully see what is going on behind us. If the mirror is tilted slightly it becomes obvious the amount of perfectly imaged ‘me’s’ there are – but God is not skewed. He wants us to keep looking into Him alone and not distracted with how much of an impact we make or followers we have. He must love the comfort we get when we see Him shining forever behind the Christ-lover friend standing next to us, however!

If we are reflecting God’s glory and light from actively positioning ourselves before His face, then He is the mirror behind and before us spreading out His shine in this world for limitless lengths. Our reflection of Him in us is multiplied when we surround ourselves with His invisible barrier. Unless the mirror is tilted (skewed, unlike God), then it is only others nearby who can see how far back the reflected images can shine.

Be over-the-moon that God cares enough about each of us that He is willing to let us reflect Him!

We reflect what we are surrounded by and it depends what sort of mirror we look into.

Let God surround your thoughts, your life song, and your unwordable feelings. Then remember how uncountable His reflection in you will be shining in the world. But don’t be too caught up looking for it. Just marvel that it is there.

Remember: mirrors image forever. They do not require batteries. They are self-sustaining. They reflect exactly what is put before them; and there is only one perfect mirror – God. Others may distort, or smudge, misrepresent you as dull, or marked. This is what the enemy wants and will try to have you viewed and reflected through these mirrors only.

Put your deepest hidden thoughts before the only perfect mirror and watch Him reflect Himself out through you to a world that needs flashing signals and added light.

God is the only mirror that when we look in, He looks out!!

Kylie, I would be delighted to have my name as a side character in your next book. I am telling anyone who will listen that they too must read The Book of Told.

For the first time in many years I have found a book that I didn't want to put down. I wanted to just continue reading to find out where the story was going.
