My God stuff thinkings

It dawned on me last night, while watching my husband's face in the retelling of the greatest catch of his life, that it just gets better and more exciting the more people grasp the hook of salvation and are hauled into the boat of eternal awe of our Maker!

I mean, my husband was beaming! He has been excited before, but this was mesmerizing to watch! Imagine what God feels!

So yes, he caught the fish last night as he had the anchor up and other rods already in to begin the journey home. Who would have thought one might be so useful in the last stages of the game? This story reminds me of Abraham and Sarah!

The funny thing was that though I love fishing, it is not my passion (nor does it keep me awake at night in excitement of the coming trip). But when I heard my husband talking with another fishaholic late last night, it was beautiful to hear the terms our friend used to convey his appreciation of the fight. This friend described his pleasure at what the sound of the reel must have been like as the fish took off at unstoppable speed. He commented on the pleasure of what my husband must have felt when he saw the rod tip bend too swiftly and the adrenaline that must have taken over. Then the sight of what he had caught must have slammed it all home that it wasn't a shark or stingray.

Our friend was almost poetic!

We describe God, His catches and our fishing for Him, with such advertising terms when we make Him our passion! Imagine how others will see our 'game' when we take such open delight in the sight of a 'fish on the way up'. It is awesome and He is awesome - the designer of the thrill!

The fish was a 30kg Kingfish caught in the Thames Firth, Coromandel. Smoked pie or in steaks, this fish is going to fill some tummies with pleasure for a looong time!

Kylie, I would be delighted to have my name as a side character in your next book. I am telling anyone who will listen that they too must read The Book of Told.

For the first time in many years I have found a book that I didn't want to put down. I wanted to just continue reading to find out where the story was going.
